Developed in consultation with the Singleton Sustainability Advisory Committee, the 2019-2027 Singleton Sustainability Strategy sets out a broad sustainability agenda for the Singleton local government area (LGA).
The strategy has a strong focus on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, of which Singleton Council have identified four key areas of focus to drive Singleton in a sustainable direction now and into the future. The purpose of employing these four goals is to ensure the long-term sustainable development of the region and to provide clear direction in achieving sustainable outcomes.

Singleton Council believes in the importance of thinking long term, and with the mining industry supplying not only power but also jobs for the local economy, it is important that we start to transition our community towards a more sustainable future.
Many challenges come about while maintaining our community in a way that continues to create jobs and prosperity, without straining land and resources.
A growing concern within our community is the increasing consumption of resources such as water and electricity, as well as the inevitable production of excessive waste being sent to the Singleton Waste Management Facility each year.
While the issue of extinction and loss of biodiversity seems to be overwhelming for many, change starts at home through sustainable practices.
