What's on at the Youth Venue

At Singleton Youth Venue, there is something for everyone!

With a wide range of services, programs, activities, workshops, classes and opportunities available, there's bound to be something to pique your interest. 

Being a member of the venue is a great way to socialise, make new friends, develop skills and enhance your confidence.

Our friendly staff are on site Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 6pm and are happy to help you find something that's right for you.

Find Singleton Youth Venue on the Corner Bathurst Street and Pitt Street, Singleton.

Drop In (Tuesday - Friday 3.30 - 6pm)

If you are looking for something free to do in the afternoon, why not drop in at the Youth Venue on the way home. Drop ins are from 3.30 - 6.30pm between Tuesday and Friday.

Open to all young people between the ages of 11 to 17, feel free to use the computers (all internet accessible), have a game of pool, play video games, get help with homework, hang out with friends or just have a chat with the staff.

Programs, activities and games are regularly provided by our staff, who are all trained Youth Workers.

Youth Venue staff are able to provide support and assistance to any young person in need.

Drop In Cooking - awaken your inner chef!

Wednesdays
Gaming + Dungeons & Dragons - An exciting new term of D&D and PS4 and Xbox console tournaments!

Thursdays
Drop in Drumming - Come along and learn Djembe!

Fridays
Multi-sports - Basketball, dodgeball, cricket, table tennis, soccer, pool, air hockey - you choose!

 

School Holiday Program

Looking for things to do these holidays? Check out Singleton Youth Centre!

School holiday activities are free for youths aged 11 to 17 years. The Youth Venue is open during the school holidays Tuesday to Friday, 9am - 6pm.

Our School Holiday activities include: 

  • Movies, pizza and PG films
  • eSports tournaments including NBA2K and Fortnight
  • Dungeons and Dragons creative workshop
  • Dance, music, arts and crafts and other creative workshops including street art and screen printing
  • Laser tag
  • Archaeological digs
  • And so much more!

Spring School Holidays | 1 - 11 October 2024

Week 1

Tuesday 1 October

Crochet for Connection | 11am
In partnership with Upper Hunter Homeless, learn to crotchet and connect through craft

VR Games | 11am onwards
Step into the virtual work with the new VR headsets!

Wednesday 2 October

Dungeons & Dragons | 10.30am - 1.30pm
The quest continues with this limitless tabletop game. Strategise and work together to succeed. 

Bake Your Own Cookies | 11am
Bake your own cookie creations in the kitchen.

Thursday 3 October + Friday 4 October

Card Games | 10am
Have fun and get competitive with playing cards.

Making Theatre: Curious City with Tantrum | 11am - 4pm
Participants will create their own new version of Singleton and bring the imagined intriguing characters that live within it to life. Tantrum's drama workshops put young people at the centre of their creative expression, supporting participants to use their voice and follow their instincts. On Friday at 3.30pm, parents, carers and friends are invited to tour the new WonderCity created!

Week 2

Tuesday 8 October

Move on the Big Screen | 1pm
Settle in and get comfy for a movie on the big screen!

Crochet Wool Crafts | 11am
Make your own wool craft creations!

Wednesday 9 October

Dungeons & Dragons | 10.30am - 1.30pm
The quest continues with this limitless tabletop game. Strategise and work together to succeed.

Mural Workup Session | 10.30am - 12.30pm
Under the guidance of Foundations4Creativity, participants will design a collaborative mural to be painted on Friday 11 October.

Thursday 10 October

Cupcake Creations | 11am
Bake some delicious cupcakes and get creative decorating them.

Nerf Battles | 1.30pm
Are you ready to protect your team in a Nerf battle? Practice your strategy and precision skills!

Friday 11 October

Mural Session | 11am - 4pm
Paint your masterpiece on the walls of the Youth Venue recreation room with creative guidance from Martha and Jeremy from Foundations4Creativity.

Youth Week

Youth Week is a week-long celebration organised by young people, for young people, held in communities across the state in early April each year.

If you're aged between 12 and 24, Youth Week is an opportunity to:

  • Attend live events
  • Have your voice heard
  • Showcase your talents
  • Celebrate
  • Take part in competitions
  • Have fun!

In 2024, Youth Week was held from Thursday 11 April to Sunday 21 April and the theme was Express. Empower. Get loud!
