Garden Organics Bin
Your Garden Organics bin (green lid) is emptied fortnightly from your kerbside and taken to Australian Native Landscapes composting facility in Tea Gardens where it is turned into mulch and compost that can be used at parks, sporting grounds or for agricultural purposes.
The Garden Organics Service is a collaboration between Maitland, Cessnock and Singleton councils.
What can go in the Garden Organics Bin
- Grass clippings
- Prunings
- All weeds
- Leaves
- Flowers
- Plants
- Bark
- Sticks and small branches (max diameter 10 centimeters)
- Roots (max diameter 10 centimeters)
- Palm fronds
What can't go in Garden Organics Bin
The following items are either contamination or may make the bin too heavy to lift;
- NO Plastic bags
- NO Plant pots
- NO Steel
- NO Tree stumps and large branches
- NO Hazardous waste or chemicals
