The Albanese and Minns governments continue to partner with local governments across New South Wales to get high-priority road and community infrastructure off the ground.

As part of this, Brunners Bridge located on Gresford Road over the Glendon Brook, en route to the Hunter Regional Livestock Exchange (HRLX), will be replaced to boost road safety and connectivity.

Supported by $700,000 from the Albanese Government’s Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program (formerly the Bridges Renewal Program) and $6.5million from the Restart NSW Fixing Country Roads Program, the project will include full demolition of the existing bridge and construction of a new structure.

Council awarded the $5.34 million tender for the construction of the new Brunners Bridge to Saunders Civilbuild in June 2024.

Site works will begin in August 2024 and the project is estimated to be complete by late 2025 (weather dependant).

The bridge will be closed, and detours will be in place from Monday 21 October 2024 for the duration of construction:

  • Light vehicles only via Mitchells Flat Road
  • Light and heavy vehicles via Glendon Lane/Glendon Road
  • CDC’s 6316 and 6331 bus routes will be detoured via Glendon Lane / Glendon Road and Roughit Lane
