Jerrys Plains Community Get Ready Team
Have you been through an emergency? Did you feel ready? What could you have done differently to be better prepared?
Your experiences could help strengthen your community!
Singleton Council is looking to support locals in starting Get Ready Teams in communities across the Singleton local government area.
Jerrys Plains will be holding its first Get Ready Team session on Wednesday 13 November from 6 – 8pm, marking an important step towards building a more resilient community.
A Get Ready Team is a group of community members who want to be better prepared for emergencies and support each other in times of need.
This could look like establishing an emergency phone tree, developing a local plan or hosting training like First Aid for community members.
Just like every community, each Get Ready Team is unique and now it’s time for Jerrys Plains to create their own!
By attending the Get Ready Team session, participants will:
- Learn how to prepare themselves and their communities for potential disasters
- Develop personal emergency plans tailored to their unique circumstances
- Work together to assess their community’s specific hazards and risks to create a comprehensive local plan including how you’ll communication during an emergency
- Receive support and advice from Singleton Council staff on preparedness and Get Ready Teams
By joining or creating a Get Ready Team, you can play an essential role in helping your community respond quickly and recover faster when emergencies occur.
Head along to Jerrys Plains School of Arts on 13 November and get involved. Food will be provided.
