Singleton is clearing out with annual bulk waste collection

Households across the Singleton local government area are being encouraged to clear out with the annual bulk waste collection to begin on Monday 1 November 2021 and run for four weeks. 

The bulk waste collection service offers residents who receive a domestic waste and recycling service a one-off opportunity each year to dispose of bulkier waste items free of charge, simply by placing them on the kerbside for collection.

The four-week collection schedule is:

Week 1 (commencing 1 November) - Singleton

Week 2 (commencing 8 November) - Darlington, Dunolly, Gowrie, Hambledon Hill, Hunterview, Maison Dieu, McDougalls Hill, Singleton Heights, Wattle Ponds, Wylies Flat

Week 3 (commencing 15 November) - Belford, Big Ridge, Branxton, Bridgman, Camberwell, Clydesdale, Combo, Dalwood, Dyrring, Elderslie, Falbrook, Fern Gully, Glendon, Glendon Brook, Gouldsville, Greenlands, Hebden, Lambs Valley, Leconfield, Liddell, Lower Belford, Middle Falbrook, Mirannie, Mitchells Flat, Mount Olive, Obanvale, Pokolbin, Ravensworth, Reedy Creek, Rixs Creek, Roughit, Scotts Flat, Sedgefield, Stanhope, Westbrook, Whittingham

Week 4 (commencing 22 November) - Appletree Flat, Broke, Bulga, Doyles Creek, Dural, Fordwich, Glennies Creek, Glenridding, Jerrys Plains, Lemington, Long Point, Milbrodale, Mount Thorley, Redbournberry, Warkworth

Justin Fitzpatrick-Barr, Council’s Director Infrastructure and Planning said eligible residents could place up to two cubic metres of domestic waste on the kerbside the week before their collection.

“The bulk waste collection is one of our most popular services, and we expect it to be even more so this year given the recent COVID lockdown where people were spending plenty of time at home,” he said.

“Items that will be accepted include general household waste, fully dismantled swing sets and trampolines, scrap metal, rolled floor coverings up to 1.5m in length and furniture.

“This year we also ask that waste is separated into piles of general waste and scrap metal for collection so that we can recycle materials and dispose of waste sustainably.

“Council’s Rangers will be conducting patrols during and after the collection to check that items left on the kerbside comply with requirements, as well as ensure the safety of our community and staff completing the pickup.”

Each property is serviced only once. 

Acceptable bulk waste items include general household waste, fully dismantled swing sets and trampolines, scrap metal and whitegoods (excluding fridges), rolled floor coverings up to 1.5m in length, and furniture.

Items that will not be accepted include mattresses, fridges, airconditioners, e-waste, green waste, hazardous solids/ liquids and batteries, commercial builders’ rubble and bricks, tyres, mirrors, glass table tops, window panes and sliding glass doors.
