Grants continue to kick goals for community sports in 2024/2025

A new year of the Singleton Council Sports Grants Program is underway, with $132,279 in dollar-for-dollar funding on offer to sports clubs to improve facilities or deliver programs in 2024/2025.
Applications for Round 1 are now open for a share of $66,000 until 15 September 2024 for Singleton sports clubs to help support sport and recreation across the Singleton local government area.
The latest round follows 12 projects that scored under the 2023/2024 program, including a new scoreboard for Singleton Junior Rugby League, an amateur boxing competition event at Singleton PCYC, and upgraded football facilities at Howe Park.
Katie Hardy, Council’s Acting Director Infrastructure and Planning said the program was a great way for community sporting organisations to upgrade sport and recreation facilities including improving accessibility, increase opportunities to groups with inequitable access to sport and recreation activities, and incorporate sustainability in the design, development and management of sport and recreation facilities.
“We all know how important sport and recreation is to our community’s health and wellbeing, and organised sport in particular also provides important social connection and a sense of belonging to a team,” she said.
“The long-running Sports Council grants program, and the Sports Council generally, recognises this essential role of sports clubs and provides an opportunity for the people who run them to act on improvements that they’ve identified to better provide for their sports now, and into the future.
“We saw some fantastic projects delivered in 2023/2024, providing for a range of sports from golf to clay target shooting, and across junior and senior age groups.
“I’ve no doubt we’ll continue to see the same high standard of applications in this financial year that will uphold Singleton’s growing reputation for quality sport and recreation facilities.”
Round 2 applications will open on 24 February 2025.
