Cnr Bathurst + Pitt Streets, Singleton
10am-4pm
Our community is heartbroken over the horrific bus tragedy that occurred in Greta on 11 June 2023 that claimed the lives of ten people who were travelling home after celebrating the wedding of a local Singleton couple.
We are proud of our tight-knit community in Singleton, and a tragedy like this will touch everyone in some way.
As we all band together to offer ongoing support to everyone who has been impacted, the Singleton Local Emergency Management Committee (LEMC) has opened a Community Crisis Centre at the Singleton Youth Venue to support anyone grappling with this unimaginable heartbreak.
The Community Crisis Centre at the Youth Venue has been operating since Monday 12 June, and will remain open on Saturday 17 June, Sunday 18 June and Monday 19 June from 10am-4pm.
Trained mental health staff will be on hand at the Community Crisis Centre to speak to anyone who needs support, as well as triage people onto other support services that are available. This is a free, inclusive space for those grieving and needs support to connect with others, and is staffed by senior mental health clinicians and support services.
This service is being provided for those who need support. We request that any other inquiries about the incident be forwarded to NSW Police.
Council and Lifeline will also be reaching out to our business community on Friday 16 June and will be dropping in on retailers in Singleton CBD.
You can also download our Mental Health Navigation Tool, a directory of local mental health services and resources for residents of the Singleton local government area.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims – those who lost their lives and those who have been injured, their families and friends, as well as our emergency services personnel who responded to such a confronting scene.
