Celebrate and nominate Singleton’s outstanding citizens
Published on 29 October 2024
The search has begun for Singleton’s most outstanding citizens with nominations open for the 2025 Citizen of the Year and Young Achiever of the Year from Friday 1 November to Friday 29 November 2024.
Mayor of Singleton, Cr Sue Moore said the annual awards recognised and celebrated the people whose significant contributions to our community made Singleton a better place for everyone.
“We’re fortunate to have so many people who volunteer for a range of organisations for a range of reasons, as well as dedicated young people who are wonderful ambassadors for Singleton,” she said.
“The Citizen of the Year awards are a great way to give those quiet achievers, community leaders and unsung heroes the recognition they deserve, and most importantly, say thank you.
“If you know someone who is worthy of being named our Citizen of the Year or Young Achiever of the Year, I whole-heartedly encourage you to nominate them.”
All residents of the Singleton local government area are eligible to nominate. Nomination forms can be downloaded here or request a hard copy from Council’s Administration Building.
The Citizen of the Year and Young Achiever of the Year will be announced as part of the official Australia Day ceremony at Singleton Civic Centre on 26 January 2025, following on from Twilight, our annual sunset community event at Townhead Park on Saturday 25 January 2025.
“Australia Day is a wonderful occasion for us all to learn more about each other, reflect on what we love about Australia and our community, and to celebrate the contributions of the outstanding people who make Singleton a place to be proud of,” Cr Moore said.
“It may seem a long way off now, but I hope everyone will pencil these dates in their calendars and we can all come together to celebrate what makes Australia—and Singleton—the best place to live.”
