Careers expo paving the path to local job and training opportunities

For access to local job and training opportunities, resume and interview advice or inspiration to take the next step in your career, don’t miss the 2024 Singleton Careers Expo.
Over 30 stalls from a diverse range of professions and industries will be showcasing their services and job vacancies at Singleton Civic Centre from 3.30 – 7.30pm on Wednesday 7 August.
The Expo is a free event being delivered by Singleton Council’s new Skills and Employment Program in partnership with the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, Training Services NSW, Workforce Australia Local Jobs, and Business Singleton.
Damian Morris, Council’s Acting Director Organisation and Community Capacity, said Singleton is home to a great many industries and opportunities and the Expo would make it easier than ever for locals to make connections and find the information they need to help them on their career path.
“This event is open to everyone in our community to attend and will be particularly relevant to youth aged between 16-25, jobseekers, school leavers, mature workers, career changers, individuals re-entering the workforce, local employers and skills providers,” he said.
“You will be able to talk about opportunities in hairdressing, mining, hospitality, construction, healthcare and disability services; chat with people from NSW Department of Education, TAFE NSW and other training and education providers about what’s available locally; and find out more about apprenticeships or traineeships through AGL, Glencore, Hedweld and Yancoal.
“You can even talk about a career in the Defence Force, to Council staff about the diversity of jobs available in local government or Belgravia Leisure about opportunities available at the Singleton Gym and Swim.”
To make it even easier for anyone to come along, a free bus service will be operating with a limited timetable from 4 – 7.45pm to shuttle Expo attendees between Singleton Heights, Hunterview and the Civic Centre.
There will also be free kids’ activities and light refreshments available at the Civic Centre during the event.
