Wollombi Brook catchment flood risk management planning
Wollombi Brook Study Area
The Wollombi Brook Catchment spans across the Singleton Local Government Area (LGA) and Cessnock LGA.

Approximately 51% of the catchment is within the Singleton LGA and 49% within the Cessnock LGA. The source of the Wollombi Brook is in the Watagan Ranges. A number of villages are
within the catchment including Warkworth, Bulga, Fordwich and Broke (in the Singleton LGA).

In 2012, Singleton Council commenced a project to prepare a Flood Plain Risk Management Plan for the section catchment that falls within it's LGA.

Prior to commencement of the project in 2012, no catchment-wide flood studies had been undertaken by Council for the Wollombi Brook Catchment. As such, comprehensive design data has not been available to Council for flood planning purposes.

Without the use of detailed design flood data, Council has only been able to advise residents of historical flood levels, where peak flood levels have been recorded from past flood events.

The project has produced a detailed flood study and will produce planning information to guide flood risk management within the Singleton LGA section of the Wollombi Brook Catchment.
