Carbon sequestration trial in the Singleton district
A trial involving on-farm carbon sequestration, or carbon capture, is being undertaken in the Hunter Valley by the Singleton Shire Landcare Network.

In 2013, the Singleton Shire Landcare Network received a $234,290 Federal Government grant to trial cell grazing management practices and other innovative farming practices to test how they would improve carbon capture.

The trial involves four  grazing properties, three in the Singleton district. Two are commercial beef grazing enterprises at Mirannie, one using cell grazing and various soil fertilisers and other soil ameliorants. The second property is using traditional set stocking rates in conjunction with different soil fertilisers and soil ameliorants.  A further two properties at Gloucester and Vacy are also in the trial.
