Ryan Avenue Upgrade

In March 2014, the NSW Government announced a $2.9 million grant under the Resources for Regions program for pavement and safety upgrades for Ryan Avenue, Singleton.

The project will include:
  • Rehabilitation and replacement of pavement
  • Providing new asphalt wearing course
  • Line marking and signage
  • Road and pedestrian street lights
  • Provision of long vehicle parking
  • Cycleway linkages
  • Wayfinding signage
  • Provide new footpaths, kerb and guttering and repair existing damages.

The estimated project completion date is June 2016.

Status as at 24 May 2016
Road works are expected to be completed this week with spray sealing taking place today and the final asphalting due to go down on Thursday and Friday this week.

The new street lights have been installed and powered up and are operational. The removal of the old street lights is still to be completed.

Landscaping works are ongoing and an official opening is scheduled for 6 June 2016.

Member for Upper Hunter Michael Johnsen officially opened the $2.9 million Ryan Avenue project funded by the NSW Government’s Resources for Regions program on Tuesday 28 June 2016.

The project was undertaken in three stages starting at the southern end of Ryan Avenue and was re-opened to two-way traffic on Friday 27 May, five weeks ahead of schedule.

15 January - Partial road closures and detours in place

11 January - Sod-turning ceremony to commence construction

27 May - Road re-opens to two way traffic

28 June - Upper Hunter Member Michael Johnsen officially opens the Ryan Avenue Project

16 November - Council awarded the construction contract to KCE

19 October - Re-tenders close

15 September - Re-tenders open

20 July - Council meeting to consider tenders received. Resolve to re-tender due to not receiving an adequate pool of competitive tenders.

26 May - Tenders closed

28 April - Tenders open for construction

30 January - Council receives detailed designs from GHD
