Approval to install, alter and operate
Owners must obtain approval from Council to install, alter and operate their OSSM system under the requirements of section 68 of the Local Government Act 1993. Approval can be sought by lodging a completed Application for s68 Approval - On-site Sewage Management System form with Council. A checklist is required to be completed as part of this form.

Note: Council must ensure that particular OSSM systems are accredited by the NSW Ministry of Health pursuant to subdivision 5 of the Local Government (General) Regulation 2005. Council is therefore unable to approve the installation of certain OSSM facilities without such accreditation. Further information about what facilities require accreditation can be obtained from the NSW Ministry of Health.
