About the internship program
Singleton’s innovative emergency services internship program, designed to provide young people with basic emergency preparedness skills, is returning in 2024 for a second year.
Funding by the Australian Government’s Communities Grant and delivered by Council in partnership with the Local Emergency Management Committee, local emergency services agencies and the Singleton PCYC, the internship program is open to anyone aged 16 to 24 years who live in the Singleton local government area.
The internship program will teach participants about emergency response preparedness and recovery through practical hands-on training with the NSW Police, NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS), State Emergency Service (SES), Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Ambulance. Participants will also complete their first aid certificate.
The program is run over an eight week program from 7 February – 27 March 2024, with four-hour sessions, including dinner, every Wednesday evening.
