Duty Planner
In order to assist you in understanding Council’s planning controls and the development assessment process, we provide a free Duty Planner service both face-to-face and via telephone, Monday to Friday 8:30am-12:00pm.

To access the Duty Planner service, you can request a telephone call or a face-to-face meeting. To organise a face-to-face meeting, you will need to book an appointment through either our online booking system or by contacting Customer Service on 02 6578 7290. Alternatively, if you would like to speak with a Duty Planner via phone, you will need to contact our Customer Service team and request a call-back based on your enquiry.

The Duty Planning service can assist you with general planning-related enquiries, or pre-lodgement advice for small-scale development applications. For larger-scale, complex developments, you are encouraged to request a Development Advisory Panel (DAP) meeting.

Due to the high demand on the duty planning service, and to ensure customer expectations are met, please allow 48 hours for a call-back from the Duty Planner.

Health & Building Surveyor
Council's Health & Building Surveyors are available from 8.30am to 9.30am and 3.30pm to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday to answer general building enquiries relating to proposed developments.

Development Advisory Panel
The Development Advisory Panel (DAP) is a meeting between prospective applicants and Council's technical staff to discuss a proposed development. DAP provides prospective applicants with an opportunity to discuss and receive feedback from Council on the technical aspects of the development proposal.

It is not mandatory to attend DAP prior to making a development application, however, DAP is encouraged by Council as the most appropriate means of addressing enquiries of a complex or site specific nature, where formal feedback is wanted from Council on a specific development concept or proposal prior to the physical lodgement of the development application.

Refer to Council’s Development Advisory Panel fact sheet for further information about the DAP. To request a meeting with the DAP, please submit a completed Development Advisory Panel meeting request form to Council.
