Catchment management
The Singleton Local Government Area (LGA) falls within the Hunter Catchment. The Hunter River drains the largest coastal catchment in NSW, covering some 22,000 square kilometers.

The catchment comprises diverse vegetation and landscapes, which includes the alpine rainforests of the World Heritage Barrington Tops, the dissected sandstone of the Great Dividing Range, the open grasslands and woodlands of the Upper Hunter, and the rich alluvial floodplains, estuarine wetlands and mangrove forests of the Lower Hunter.
