Bridges & water structures
Council’s Works Program Area manages an extensive road network as part of the Asset and Facilities Division of Council to enable the delivery of Council services in an effective and efficient manner.

Included in this network are major waterway structures, which include:
  • 1 steel bridge;
  • 52 concrete bridges;
  • 6 timber bridges;
  • 54 culverts longer than 6m measured along the centreline of the road; and
  • 67 Causeways.

Brookers Bridge

Following repair works in August 2017, Brookers Bridge is open to vehicles of up to 42.5T with a speed limit of 10km/h.

This arrangement is expected to remain in place until construction of a new bridge, expected to be complete by June 2018.
